Shearwater today: started well enough at the race line and somehow got first round the bottom mark after a great run with the wind behind, overtaking about 5 boats. Then missed the next buoy and had to detour to reach it so was 2nd to last again. I finished the race just seconds behind the first two boats - but actually a lap behind. By this time I was wet and cold. 'If you want to warm up, just fall in' explained Jack 'it's 10 degrees in the air and about 15 degrees in the lake'. I didn't take his advice.
After lunch ( the usual marathon bar) the wind had picked up from strong for me to gusty and too strong. I did two dryish capsizes at the line and decided to retire. That was  a good tack back to the pontoon and I was picked up by Juley to help in the safety boat. No rest for the cold and wicked...
Eventually got into the race box for a warm up and helped pack stuff away. 'surely they won't want another race?' They did. Best two of three it was. Someone got the Commodore's Cup and it wasn't me.
