Jim Shekhdar (Good Book this) says we should live our dreams and, it being an easterly wind, I decided it was time for my personal Everest to begin. Bring it on Baby!
Well Guys, I did half a lap backwards: off the pontoon, round Buoy 4, down the lake with the wind behind me and round 1 at the bottom. Then it became interesting. It is possible to sail up wind backwards - I've seen it being done on Youtube - but a little tricky when there are gusts and windshifts which frequent on Shearwater. I'd also left my wetsuit at home so it wasn't a time for getting wet.
When we have a westerly, I'll do the other half a lap!
